The Brief | Term 4 Week 7
Principal Message
Updates for 2025
We're diligently working on planning class placements and teacher allocations for the 2025 school year. Our aim is to inform families about these arrangements before the current school year concludes.
To ensure optimal learning environments, our teachers meticulously consider each child’s unique strengths, needs, and learning style. This thoughtful process involves balancing academic abilities, social dynamics, and individual interests. While we strive to maintain these plans, unforeseen circumstances such as staffing changes or enrolment fluctuations may necessitate adjustments.
We’re delighted to welcome back familiar faces to Floraville Public School for the 2025 school year: Mrs Kylie Stanbridge, Mr Aaron McSweeny, Mrs Louise O’Neill, and Mrs Liane Barden. We look forward to the positive impact they will have on our students' learning and development.

High Potential Gifted Education
Throughout the year, groups of students have been able to participate in dedicated High Potential Gifted Education (HPGE) sessions. These have included sessions focused on reading, mathematics and visual arts.
We are looking forward to extending our HPGE program in 2025, but what does HPGE mean?
The New South Wales Department of Education's framework for High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) identifies four key domains that encompass the diverse talents and abilities of students. These domains help guide the identification and support of high potential and gifted learners. Here’s a detailed look at each domain:
1. Intellectual Domain
The Intellectual Domain focuses on cognitive abilities, encompassing a student’s capacity for reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Key aspects include:
- Advanced Reasoning: Students in this domain often demonstrate exceptional analytical skills and can tackle complex problems effectively.
- Critical Thinking: They are capable of evaluating information, making informed decisions, and applying knowledge in diverse contexts.
- Rapid Learning: These students typically grasp new concepts quickly and can make connections between different areas of knowledge.
2. Creative Domain
The Creative Domain highlights the natural abilities related to imagination, invention, and originality. This domain includes:
- Imagination: Students can envision possibilities beyond the present reality, leading to innovative ideas and creative expression.
- Inventiveness: They are skilled at generating new concepts, approaches, or products, often displaying a unique way of thinking.
- Artistic Expression: This domain also encompasses talents in various forms of art, including visual arts, music, drama, and writing.
3. Social-Emotional Domain
The Social-Emotional Domain addresses the interpersonal and emotional skills that contribute to a student’s overall wellbeing and ability to relate to others. Key components include:
- Self-Management: This includes emotional regulation, self-awareness, and the ability to set and pursue personal goals.
- Empathy: Students in this domain often demonstrate a strong capacity for understanding and relating to the feelings of others, fostering positive relationships.
- Collaboration: They have effective communication and teamwork skills, enabling them to work well with peers and contribute to group efforts.
4. Physical Domain
The Physical Domain encompasses abilities related to muscular movement, coordination, and overall physical fitness. Important aspects include:
- Gross Motor Skills: Students exhibit proficiency in large muscle movements, such as running, jumping, and participating in sports.
- Fine Motor Skills: This involves dexterity and coordination in smaller muscle groups, essential for tasks like writing or crafting.
- Physical Fitness: A focus on overall health and wellness, including strength, endurance, and flexibility, which contribute to an active lifestyle.
By recognising and addressing the four domains of high potential—Intellectual, Creative, Social-Emotional, and Physical—we aim to provide comprehensive support for gifted learners. This framework ensures that all students have the opportunity to develop their unique talents and achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive educational environment.

Baker’s Delight Christmas Fundraiser
This is one of our last fundraisers for 2024 and we’d love to see lots of support for this. What are the benefits of placing an order?
- The lemon tarts, fruit mince tarts and Christmas cakes are delicious and make fabulous Christmas gifts.
- For every $10 you spend, you’ll get one entry into the draw to win a YEARS SUPPLY OF FREE BAKERS DELIGHT BREAD. So, if you spend $100, that’s 10 entries! The odds are good and this prize is valued at over $1500.
- Bakers Delight Belmont have been wonderful supporters of our school P&C events, donating our bread essentials in recent years, so we’d love to support them too.
- A portion of all sales are donated back to the P&C - this money goes back into school resources for our kids.
Order via Flexischools or send us a message if you’d prefer direct deposit. Orders close 3rd December and will be delivered to the school office 12th December (this coincides with presentation day for those attending the school, for ease of pick up).

Christmas Picnic on the Flat
The P&C will be having a small stall at the Christmas Picnic on Tuesday 10th December. We will be selling ice blocks, cold drinks, and fun Christmas accessories for the kids (priced from $1 - $3). This was requested by families at the last P&C meeting, but we need help on the night as many of the P&C team are unavailable. We appreciate everyone is there to spend time with family and friends, so we are keeping the event as simple as possible, and are asking people to lend a helping hand for just 20-30 minutes. Please head to the sign-up list and add your name to a timeslot if you can assist. https://www.signupgenius.com/.../60B0F4DA4AD29A4FE3... Thank you for those who have already signed up.
Second-hand uniform shop
The purpose of the second-hand uniform shop is to give families a place to donate uniforms that their children have outgrown, to work towards goals for sustainability preventing quality items from becoming landfill, as well as allowing families to purchase second-hand items at an affordable cost. This is also a small revenue raising opportunity for the P&C, raising money to go back into school resources. For the second-hand uniform shop to get off the ground, we require lots of uniform donations! There is a uniform donation tub set up in the school office. We ask that all items are washed prior to donation and are in a condition that other people can wear. Thank you for your support.
Mango Delivery Update
Mango trays will be delivered this Friday 29th November. We are aiming to have collection available from 2:30pm-5:00pm in the P&C room (old uniform shop). We ask that all mango trays are collected that day as they may spoil in the hot P&C room over the weekend. Everyone should have received a text message outlining the delivery details. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns with collection.

Canteen
Christmas lunch bags are available from now until the end of the year. The bags include a meal item, drink, Quelch ice block and a Christmas surprise – we have chosen a variety of Christmas themed surprises suitable for all age groups.

NPA Sports Equipment Fundraiser
The Christmas countdown is moving quickly!!! NPA sports offer personalised sporting equipment, and these make the best Christmas gifts – the kids will love them! Our affiliation with NPA finishes at the end of the year so we’d love to add some extra sales before the promotion ends. Families are invited to purchase anything from the NPA website using our unique link and 20% of sales go back to the P&C, which then go back to our school. Items can be personalised with your child’s name or team/club name, so this means no more lost equipment! Items are sent quickly and posted directly to your home. For our school to receive the funds, orders need to be made using the following unique link: https://npaevents.com.au/?sca_ref=5593459.I2Qxx5OoE9.
