Public Education Week - Ignite your potential

As we conclude Public Education Week, we take this opportunity to recognise the incredible impact of public education in our lives. During the week we featured some of Floraville Public School's alumni - former students who have gone on to make a difference and have an impact in various fields and endeavours. Their stories inspire our current students and remind us of the lasting impact of a strong public education.

Floraville Public School Alumni

Do you know more of our Alumni?

We invite all families to help us reconnect with our alumni. If you know former students who have remarkable accomplishments or who would be willing to share their experiences, please reach out to us. Let’s come together to celebrate the legacy of our school and the bright futures of our students.

Amelia - Jeans for Genes

Thank you to the incredible Amelia and our amazing students and families for getting behind Amelia! The outstanding efforts of our school have seen us raise an incredible $1737 to support the Children's Medical Research Institute, who are working today to change lives tomorrow.

We are so proud of you Amelia!

Kindergarten 2026 - transition program

As we prepare to welcome our youngest learners to our school, let's explore the vital role that kindergarten transition programs play in setting the foundation for education. Our transition program is designed to ease the transition into school life, helping children feel comfortable, confident, and connected to their new learning environment.

By engaging in orientation activities, our Kindergarten 2026 students will get to know their teachers, explore their classrooms, and build friendships with their peers. This early experience not only supports emotional wellbeing but also fosters a love for learning that will last a lifetime.

As a community, let us continue to support our children during this crucial time, ensuring that they embark on their educational journey with enthusiasm and excitement. Together, we can create a welcoming and nurturing environment that encourages growth and discovery. And it's not too late to join us! Enrol now using the link below.

Celebrating Success: Spotlight on Flynn from 6C

At Floraville Public School, we take immense pride in our students who exemplify our core values of Quality and Organisation. This week, we are focusing on Flynn from Stage 3, whose exceptional organisational skills and willingness to assist his peers, having a positive impact on our school community.

Flynn has consistently demonstrated a remarkable ability to keep his classroom running smoothly. His initiative in creating the visual ‘What’s On’ display each day not only helps his classmates stay informed but also fosters a sense of responsibility and teamwork among students.

In addition to his work on classroom displays, Flynn excels in managing the check-in iPad for his fellow students. Each morning, he takes the lead in organising the device, enabling his classmates to complete their LifeSkills Go check-in efficiently. His proactive approach not only streamlines the process but also encourages his peers to engage actively with their learning.

Flynn’s dedication to supporting his classmates and contributing positively to the classroom environment exemplifies the Floraville PS values. His efforts are a testament to what it means to be a responsible and caring member of our school community.

Junior Explorer Robotics

Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 students are embarking on an exciting journey into the world of robotics with Sphero Indi robots. Within the Junior Explorer program, our young learners are discovering the fundamentals of coding and problem-solving through hands-on activities that engage their creativity and critical thinking skills.

Aeroponics

This term, Stage 2 and Stage 3 students have been exploring the fascinating world of aeroponics. This hands-on program not only enhances students’ understanding of sustainable gardening practices but also encourages curiosity and teamwork.

Students have been delving into the technology behind vertical aeroponic systems, which allows plants to grow using nutrient-rich water without soil, providing an efficient and eco-friendly alternative to traditional gardening. Students are also engaging in research to identify suitable plants for the system, investigating which varieties thrive best in an aeroponic environment.

Book Week 2025

Book Week 2025 will be held in Week 5 this term. This year’s theme is Book an Adventure!

We will have lots of exciting things happening in classrooms and around the school during Book Week and are very excited to welcome parents and carers to our annual Book Parade on Wednesday, 20 August 2025. Further details to be shared closer to the event.

Term 3 Scholastic Book Fair

As part of Book Week 2025, we will be hosting our second and final Scholastic Book Fair for the year in Week 5.

A percentage of sales from the fair is put back into the library, which assists us in ensuring our students have access to the latest titles. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Book Fair opening dates and times:

8.15 – 9am: Monday 18 August – Thursday 21 August

11.45am – 1.18pm Wednesday 20 August (middle session after the Book Parade)

Location: School library

Timetabled class visits will be communicated in the lead up to the fair.

Please note: Similar to our last Book Fair, students will not complete wish lists prior to, or during visits to the fair, as there is ample opportunity to visit the fair throughout the week and make purchases during a visit. This avoids having students complete wish lists during a class visit, then finding their desired book is out of stock when they return to make a purchase.

Cash and card payments are accepted.

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you at the Book Fair!

NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge 2025

The NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge is open to students until Friday, 19 September 2025.

To log student reading records, please follow the link below, select ‘Logon’ from the left-hand menu, and log in using student school credentials when redirected to the login screen. If you require any support in accessing and logging reading records online, please see Mr Tassell in the library.

https://online.education.nsw.gov.au/prc/home.html

If you plan to submit a hard copy log sheet to Mr Tassell so that he can assist with logging books read during the Premier’s Reading Challenge, please ensure that you allow time for this and have reading log sheets in to Mr Tassell prior to the student deadline.

From The Office

Visiting during school hours

To maintain a focused learning environment and ensure the safety of our students, we kindly ask that visitors proceed directly to the school office instead of heading directly to your child's classroom. The office staff will assist with any questions or needs you may have. If your child needs to come to the office, we will call the classroom to arrange it. This approach helps us keep our classrooms focused and demonstrates our commitment to protecting everyone in our school community.

Lost Property

To help keep track of your child’s clothing and belongings, we kindly ask that you label all items with your child's name. With so many similar-looking hats, jackets, and lunchboxes, having names on them makes it much easier for us to return anything that gets misplaced!

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to an exciting Colour Run!

🎉 P&C Father’s Day Stall

We are excited to announce the Father’s Day Stall on Friday, 29 August 2025! This event celebrates all the superhero dads, step-dads, granddads, uncles, and role models in our kids' lives.

To make this event a success, we require volunteers from 8 AM to 2 PM to assist with setting up the stall, selling items to students, and packing up at the end of the day. We appreciate any time you can offer, whether it's for an hour or the entire day.

Please sign up to volunteer via our online link: Father’s Day Stall Volunteer Sign-Up and indicate the time you will be available to help.

We can’t run this event without our volunteers, and it's very rewarding to help the students choose those very special gifts for their loved ones. Thank you for your support!

Even if you haven’t utilised the uniform shop, we’d still like to hear your thoughts! The survey takes less than 2 minutes to complete: 2nd Hand Uniform Shop Survey.
