External Validation

The NSW Department of Education's external validation process is based on the School Excellence Framework (SEF), which provides a clear structure for assessing school performance across three key domains: Learning, Teaching and Leading. External Validation is part of the School Excellence Cycle. The School Excellence Cycle is a structured approach used by the NSW Department of Education to promote continuous improvement in schools. It fosters a culture of reflection, accountability, and continuous improvement, ultimately aiming to enhance the quality of education and outcomes for all students.

The purpose of the external validation process is to ensure that our school aligns our practices with the SEF, promoting a culture of continuous improvement. Here’s a more detailed overview:

  • External validation involves an independent team reviewing our school's self-assessment against the SEF. This process helps us to objectively evaluate our practices, identify strengths, and pinpoint areas for development.

  • The external validation team will engage in discussions with our school leaders and staff to reflect on the evidence we have collected. This dialogue is crucial as it provides insights into how well our school meets the SEF standards and supports collaborative learning among staff.

  • The insights gained from external validation will help our school to refine our strategic plan and improve educational practices. We are committed to the pursuit of equity and excellence, enhancing student outcomes and ensuring that all students receive a high-quality education.

  • The external validation process is not a one-time event but part of a continuous cycle of improvement. Our school will apply the feedback and recommendations from the validation to enhance our practices and outcomes.

After our external validation process, we will develop a new school excellence plan (SEP) that outlines specific actions and initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes. This plan is informed by evidence and aligns with the SEF. Our SEP will show our school’s priorities to drive excellence in learning, teaching and leading. It will outline our strategic directions, focus areas of improvement, and school improvement measures.

Our team is currently putting together our evidence for submission towards the end of this term. We will be meeting with our validation team in the first week of Term 3. We look forward to sharing the outcomes with our school community.

Celebrating Success – Jaxon 4/5D

We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on one of our dedicated students, Jaxon from 4/5D, who has been working hard in his recent research project on planets. Jaxon's enthusiasm for learning is evident in his in-depth study of Uranus, one of the most fascinating planets in our solar system.

Through his research, Jaxon has uncovered a wealth of intriguing facts about Uranus, expanding his knowledge and understanding.

Jaxon’s commitment to his studies is commendable. His hard work and curiosity exemplify the values of our school community, and we are proud to have him as part of our learning environment.

Congratulations, Jaxon! Keep reaching for the stars!

Aboriginal Education

This term, we are excited to share our Aboriginal Education update in a different way! Some of our Year 6 students, Isaac, Mack and Jett, have produced a fantastic podcast that highlights what they have been learning and experiencing in Aboriginal Education at school. Tune in to hear about their projects, discussions, and the insights they've gained.

Interest Group - Visual Arts

In visual arts interest group, students from Years 3 to 6 drew inspiration from Vincent van Gogh’s iconic sunflower series to create their own beautiful pastel artwork. Recognised for his love of sunflowers, van Gogh's paintings are celebrated around the globe. Students focused on capturing a close-up section of a sunflower while honing their skills with soft pastels. This hands-on activity not only encouraged creativity but also deepened their appreciation for one of the most famous artists in history. It was a vibrant exploration of art and technique!

PSSA AFL

The Floraville PS PSSA AFL team had an outstanding performance at the gala day held in Warners Bay, showcasing their incredible skills and teamwork. The team kicked off the day with a thrilling victory against Hamilton South PS, winning 17-14, followed by a dominant win over Merewether Heights PS with a score of 51-7. Despite facing a tough challenge in their final match against Eleebana PS, where they were narrowly defeated 15-23, the team's spirit and resilience shone through, especially considering they played with three less players in each game. This remarkable achievement marks the furthest Floraville PS has advanced in the NSW PSSA AFL Knockout competition. A huge thank you to all the parents for their unwavering support and assistance with transport. We eagerly anticipate more success stories as the team prepares to compete in the Paul Kelly Cup on Tuesday, 17 June. Go Floraville PS!

Hunter Rugby Union

We are excited to announce that Claudia has been selected to represent the girls' Hunter Rugby Union Team! This great opportunity will see her playing at Blacktown for two days next week, showcasing her exceptional skills and dedication to the sport.

Claudia's selection is not only a personal achievement but also a historic milestone for Floraville PS, as she is the very first girl to represent our school in rugby union. Claudia has demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship and teamwork, earning her place among the best young female athletes in the region.

As she prepares for this exciting competition, we are all proud to support Claudia and cheer her on.

Congratulations, Claudia! We can't wait to see you in action on the field, making history for both yourself and Floraville PS! Good luck!

🥗 Canteen Update! 🍏

It’s great to see most families using Flexischools to place their lunch orders with the canteen! 🎉 This is an easy way for you to be confident that your order has been submitted, as you can see your order history and receive a confirmation email once your order is placed. 📧✅

We know that sometimes things come up at the last minute, particularly in the winter months with increased illness and absences from school. ❄️🤒 If you have placed a lunch order, and your child is unexpectedly going to be absent from school, please give the school office a quick call first thing in the morning to let the canteen know your order isn’t required that day. 📞

The canteen will then be able to transfer your order to the following day. Unfortunately, if the canteen is not aware your child is absent and the lunch has already been provided, we are unable to refund this or transfer it to an alternative day. 🙁

Thank you for your understanding! 🙏

🌟 Volunteer of the Month! 🌟

It is well established that volunteering creates lasting relationships that enrich lives and strengthen communities. 🤝💖 We celebrate our dedicated volunteers at school every day, and this year the P&C would like to acknowledge our wonderful volunteers even more! 🎉

Every month, we will be celebrating a Volunteer of the Month! 🏆 With thanks from Zarraffa’s Coffee and Cake Cake Baby, our volunteer of the month will receive a coffee voucher and some delicious cupcakes! ☕🧁

If you have a nomination for the month of May, for someone’s volunteering efforts big or small, please send us a message on our Facebook page or email fpsfundraising1@gmail.com. 📩

Let’s continue to shine a light on our extraordinary volunteers who make a difference every day! 🌈✨
