Understanding your child’s report
To keep everyone informed, we will again be providing a list of key terms and phrases that you might encounter in your child’s Semester 2 Academic Report. Our goal is to communicate clearly in straightforward language; however, there may be instances where educational terminology is necessary. The glossaries we share are designed to assist you! Celebrating the exceptional careers of...
Mrs Southward and Ms Phillip
It is with mixed emotions that we announce the upcoming retirement of two of our most beloved and dedicated staff members, Mrs Southward and Ms Phillip. After decades of inspiring young minds and shaping the culture of our school, they are ready to embark on the next exciting chapter of their lives.
Mrs Southward, our remarkable Teacher Librarian, has been the heart of our library and a champion of literacy for countless students. Her ability to foster a love of reading and learning has left a lasting legacy. Affectionately known as ‘Southy’, she has been known for her sharp wit and endless compassion amongst students, parents and staff. It is no surprise that outside of her librarian role, she is always first to lend a hand to colleagues in need and has been considered an integral member of staff wellbeing initiatives.
Ms Phillip has proven to be a passionate, knowledgeable and multi-talented teacher throughout her career. In particular, she has been an advocate for mathematics, visual arts, and gifted education, which inspired generations of students to embrace creativity and critical thinking. Her dedication to excellence in teaching, whilst also recognising the importance of supporting colleagues as a Teachers Federation Representative have been invaluable. Ms Phillip’s ability to bring out the best in her students and peers alike has made her an irreplaceable part of our community.
Both Mrs Southward and Ms Phillip have been mentors, role models, and cherished friends to staff, students, and families alike. Their contributions to our school are immeasurable, and while they will be deeply missed, their influence will continue to be felt for years to come. We are sure that the wider school community will recognise the hard work, dedication, and joy they have brought to our school.
Thank you, Mrs Southward and Ms Phillip, for everything you have given to our school and Public Education. We wish you all the best as you head into retirement, filled with new adventures and well-deserved relaxation!

Year 6 Clap Out
Wednesday 18 December is the final day for Year 6. It is a tradition that students from Kindergarten to Year 5 form a guard of honour as the students exit the school. Parents and carers are invited to come at 2:30pm if they would like to see their children walk through. Please meet us under the Infants COLA.
Year 6 Fun Day
Excitement filled the air as students participated in the highly anticipated Year 6 Fun Day! The students did an amazing job organising over 20 games packed with unlimited fun and creativity. The event was a true showcase of fairness, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm, bringing excitement to everyone involved.
Congratulations to Year 6 for their hard work and outstanding efforts in making this fundraiser a huge success. It was the perfect way to celebrate the end of the year and create lasting memories for our students.

Year 6 2025 shirts
We are excited to announce the final Year 6 shirt design has been completed! Elements from student designs have been thoughtfully incorporated to create this unique design.
We can’t wait to see all students wearing their shirts with pride in 2025!

Star Struck 2025
Congratulations to Blake and Chloe, who successfully submitted a Featured Artist audition video to be a performer in next years Star Struck. They attended the Round 2 vocal auditions last Friday, representing their school with pride. We look forward to hearing the results from this workshop day.
And congratulaions to Stella, who was successful in her video audition for Round 2. She will attend the backing vocal and core choir workshop early next year.

Library
It’s time for students to return library books. Students are welcome to borrow some books to read over the school holidays, any time between now and next Wednesday.
Overdue Notices will be emailed to parents and carers so keep an eye out for those. They may also end up in your junk mail. If these books are lost or damaged, please let Mrs Southward know.
Sport News
Eastlake PSSA Cricket Trials
Last week, Matthew C, Beau R, Mack S, and Kaiden W were selected to represent our school at the Eastlakes Boys Cricket Trials. Although the girls were not selected, they showcased excellent sportsmanship and organisation throughout the event.

NRL Newcastle Knights Visit
Last Friday, three players from the Newcastle Knights visited Floraville to deliver the NRL’s ‘Simply Your Best’ program to our Year 3-6 students. The players aimed to inspire students to strive for their personal best and to emphasise the positive impact that this mindset can have on themselves and those around them. By sharing their experiences, the players provided valuable examples of how they maintain their physical and mental well-being. They encouraged students to apply these simple strategies both in the classroom and at home.

Sport for 2025
A reminder to all families from Years 3 to 6, to sit with their child/children to discuss and fill in the 2025 Sporting Opportunities survey emailed to families. We ask for this to be filled out by the end of the year.

Lost Property
As we approach the end of the term, we would like to remind you to check our lost property collection for any missing items, including clothing, drink bottles, and lunch boxes. All unclaimed items will be available for collection until the end of the school day on Wednesday, 18 December. After this date, any remaining drink bottles and lunch boxes will unfortunately be discarded.
We encourage you to come by and have a look before the holiday break – we’d love to reunite lost items with their owners!

As part of this initiative, our school has been provided with RID Tropical Antiseptic Bite Protection 100ml pump spray bottles that are available for families to purchase at a discounted cost of $5 (RRP $9.50). These can be purchased from the office with cash or EFTPOS, or you can log into your School Bytes parent portal, go to the ‘Payments’ tab, select the ‘Add other item’ tab, and from there you can complete your purchase.
For all online purchases, office staff will send these home with students, or email the school if you would prefer to collect your order from the office.
